Course Description
This one hour program reviews intravenous and inhalational agents for office based anesthesia used in conjunction with the laryngeal mask airway. Criteria for airway classification are discussed. The placement of the LMA is demonstrated. Caveats and complications are reviewed.
Course Objectives
Recognize that difficult surgery can mitigate against the use of open airway TIVA.
Discuss the conversion of open airway to LMA anesthesia with the onset of untoward patient responses.
Discuss the management of “failure to ventilate” during TIVA anesthesia
Explain how patient obesity can affect the choice of anesthetic technique
