Course Description
Pediatric patients present with many anatomic and physiologic differences that mandate alterations in anesthetic technique. This presentation will focus on office-based pediatric anesthesia, including a discussion of anesthetic agents, complications and monitoring.
Course Objectives
List 4 anatomic differences in the pediatric airway vs the adult
Explain unique physiologic differences in the pulmonary and cardiovascular system
Discuss 3 salient features of pre-anesthetic evaluation for pediatric patients
Define the pharmacology of benzodiazepines and ketamine
