Course Description

The program will contrast and compare the art and science of 5 techniques for anesthetizing the pediatric patient in an office-based setting. The peculiarities of the pediatric airway will be addressed.

Course Objectives

Describe the decision making process for choosing adult techniques when anesthetizing a child
Discuss advantages and disadvantages of inhalation, intramuscular and oral induction techniques
Describe the management of laryngospasm with and without an IV in place
List the advantages and drawbacks of ketamine and midazolam.
