Course Description

Simulation has been shown to be beneficial in reducing medical error and improving healthcare quality and patient safety. This program will facilitate learning, practicing and perfecting various emergency scenarios and skills without causing harm to "simulated" patients.  Frequent physical rehearsal in the environment that task and team performance are required is the most efficient and effective method to acquire these skills.

Course Objectives

  1. Demonstrate benefits of simulation to improve management of anesthetic emergencies in an out-patient setting
  2. Discuss 12 different emergency algorithms, identifying key aspects of team and team leader functioning
  3. Integrate and master emergency scenario skills by frequent physical rehearsal in the office setting
